Moments of Grace Series
Marchand’s paintings suggest a connection between deep space and inner space of the human body. Her work recalls images seen from low orbit space, looking through portals, seeing patterns and rhythms of earth’s natural forces. Her art addresses our role as citizens on a planetary paradise and how the human race moves forward in time, visualizing from a big picture perspective while operating on a local earthly level. This work comes at a timely moment to remind us not to forget some of the subtle, self-connective lessons that the pandemic taught us. As we “go back to normal” and extend ourselves outwards into society again, Moments of Grace offers an intimate refuge to come back to center and brings forward concepts of unity, time, perspective, impermanence and the sublime.
ABOUT ANNE MARCHAND
Anne Marchand was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. She holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Auburn University. Her works have been included in national and regional exhibitions at the National Building Museum, the Southeast Federal Center, the Federal Reserve Board, Maryland Art Place, the Washington Project for the Arts, the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, Palm Springs Art Museum, Rawls Museum Arts and the Arlington Arts Center. Her work is featured in 100 Artists of the Mid Atlantic, Studio Visit Magazine and Art Voices Magazine.
Marchand has exhibited work in in New York City, Washington, DC and prestigious galleries in California, New Mexico,Arizona, Hawaii, Florida, North Carolina and Maryland. She has received numerous prizes and grants for her work,notably a 2014 Artist Fellowship from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and a residency grant to Culiacan,Mexico from the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation in 2003. Ms. Marchand taught painting and drawing at Mt. VernonCollege’s School of Art and Design. She was a visiting artist with the University of Illinois, School of Architecture studyabroad program. Her work is featured in corporate and private collections in the United States.
