This year, forty photographers from five continents were named LensCulture 2022 Critics’ Choice Award winners. Of those forty, ten were selected as Top Ten winners, a distinction that will earn them each a $1000 grant in recognition of their work and participation in a group exhibition to be held in Paris during Paris Photo 2022.
Catherine Hug, of the Catherine and André Hug Gallery in Paris, a member of the international jury, had this to say about Takigawa’s work:
“Jerry Takigawa treats a painful moment in the winding history of the United States with extreme poetry. Balancing Cultures is a work about memory and history that touches me deeply. ”
LensCulture is a “global photography network and online magazine celebrating current trends of contemporary photography in art, media, politics, commerce and popular cultures worldwide.”
